About Dog Rescue SA

We're a guidance platform — a signpost, not a shelter. We help South Africans find the right rescue pathway, whether they need to rehome a dog or are looking to adopt.

What we are

Dog Rescue SA is a directory that connects people with trusted, breed-specific rescue organisations across South Africa. We don't house dogs. We don't process adoptions. We don't handle rehoming ourselves. Instead, we make it easier to find the right rescue — one that handles your dog's breed, your province, and your situation.

What we are not

• Not a shelter or kennel. We have no physical facility and no dogs in our care.
• Not a classifieds platform. You won't find individual dog listings, "for sale" ads, or owner-to-owner contact details here.
• Not a replacement for partner rescues. The organisations we link to do the real work — fostering, vetting, rehoming, and adoption. Our role is to route people to them.
• Not a public listing service. We don't publish ads, profiles, or contact details from the public.

How we route people

If you need to rehome your dog, we'll help you find a breed-specific rescue that handles rehoming with care. Every situation is treated as private and judgement-free.

If you're looking to adopt, we'll point you to rescues with dogs ready for new homes. Visit them directly to see who's available.

If you've lost a dog, we'll connect you with Lost Dogs SA for listings and recovery help.

Why we exist

South Africa has excellent rescue organisations — but finding the right one can be confusing. A stressed owner googling "rehome my dog" at midnight doesn't always land on the right page. Someone looking for a Yorkie in KZN may not know about SA Yorkie Rescue's province pages. Our job is to close that gap — to make the right rescue easy to find.
